What happens when you visit a waterfall at night — under a new moon, with only your senses to guide you? On Saturday, August 23, at 8:00 PM, you can find out by joining us for an unforgettable night hike to a favorite waterfall. We’ll be led by Lynda Doucette, Waterfall Keepers of NC Board Member and longtime National Park Service ranger.
In complete darkness, without the moonlight, the forest quiets… but the waterfall beckons!
Guided only by sound, scent, and touch along the way, you’ll experience the journey in a whole new way.
You’ll hear the waterfall before you see it—singing in the distance.
As you get closer, the air will cool and you may feel the spray before you reach it.
This is not just a hike — it’s a sensory journey. Along the trail, we’ll also:
Listen for nocturnal wildlife
Do guided experiments with your enhanced senses
Look for bioluminescent mushrooms and glowing forest life
Learn how the forest and the falls change when the sun goes down
Cost: $25
Location: In the Brevard region (we’ll provide directions when you register)
